Ashton: My question is whenever i play a midi file my drum track always gets messed up and it defaults to A11 which in the Korg i3 is the piano sound.I tried hard to set this up correctly so that i would not have to edit each and every midi file to suit the drum track. Is there any way of making the keyboard default to a drum map on midi channel 10 as this channel is the drum map? I browsed through Glen's website and someone had written a similar question. However i tried that method and that works only if you edit each midi file.I want it to default to the drum sounds in the drum map.I would appreciate if anyone could help me on this issue. Derek Hamilton: The i3 has this inherent problem which was changed with the i30. However, all is not lost. There are two workarounds. 1)When you load a SMF into the i3 it loads into the song section. You can then edit the song channel 10 to any DR1-8 patch instead of default A11. Then save the song as a SMF. Next time you load the SMF it will be correct (only on the i3 - it will not be correct on other GM compatible equipment) 2) Go to www.gnmidi.com click on 'Freeware' tab at top of the page click on midipat down left side colum approx 1/3 way down to download a zip file containing Gunter Nagler's free conversion program (it is in DOS so you will need to read carefully the instructions in the document file in the zip - I advise you print the doc file out and read several times to familiarise) You can then batch fix all your midi files to work correctly on the i3. Hope this helps - Good Luck! Derek
